Philosophy & Anger

By Michael Ryan

Why do we justify something so destructive?

In a recent report, anger was seen as the root cause of mental and physical health problems. Problems in relationships including social, family and even working relationships where it is described as more likely to have a negative effect than any other emotion. Chronic and intense anger is linked to heart disease, stroke, cancer and even common physical illness including colds and flu. As well as poor health it gives rise to increased risk taking, poor decision making and even substance abuse. This talk shows how all anger can be reduced to a single cause and offers practical ways to escape its terrible grip.
