This talk examines why parenting is required for the human being - the nature of the child - the different stages of its development and how parenting needs to change from stage to stage - the essential needs of the child - the development of reason and reasonable behaviour - helping them with reason - the granting of increasing respect and responsibility - the need for house rules - the relative roles of fathering and mothering - dissolving harmful characteristics in their nature - after 16 treating them as a friend.
