Management & Structure

Who Manages the School?

Non Profit Association

We are a a voluntary association with charitable status (CHY5791). The School is almost entirely run by students ourselves who volunteer in our spare time without payment. We employ two administrative staff who help with registering and organising courses and events all over Ireland.

The legally constituted body is called the Association of the School of Philosophy & Economic Science. It is made up of around 75 students. Between us we look after the tutor facilities, legal and regulatory compliance, administration, finance and the day to day practicalities of running the organisation.

Each year at our Annual General Meeting, the Association elects a Principal, a Treasurer and five other members to form an Executive Committee to oversee the business of the Association. This Executive Committee meet between 5 and 7 times a year to ensure the proper care of the students.

The Association and the Executive Committee are bound by its constitution, known as the written ‘Rules of Association’.

Philosophical Leadership

Senior Tutor

The senior tutor decides the direction of course material in consultation with other tutors. The content is taken from a huge variety of texts ancient and new, from East and West. The senior tutor and leader of the school in Ireland is Dr David Horan.
